Because the reward is a fifteen-minute multiplier rather than a flat sum, a little planning doubles its value. Before you redeem, make sure every worker ant is assigned, your food sources are the best you have unlocked, and you have nothing left to sell, so the whole window goes to fresh income. Then redeem, stay in the game, and spend the cash on rolls or colony upgrades as it comes in rather than letting it sit.

Leaving the game does not pause the boost. If you have to log off, the timer keeps running on the server, so a boost redeemed right before you leave is mostly wasted.
